We will be launching our Community Collaborative Partnership soon!
In the meantime, here is a sneak preview of what we have in mind:
The definition of a science laboratory is a special facility where experiments are conducted. A Lab typically contains equipment, beakers, burners, and other tools necessary to complete an experiment.
Everyday Colab is a Community Collaborative Partnership for those wanting to engineer a more meaningful and fulfilled life on purpose! You can expect a miracle and in the words of Arthur C. Clarke “Magic's just science that we don't understand yet.” The difference between Mr Clarke's famous words and ours is that we believe in miracles, not magic. Everyday CoLab is a place where science and miracles meet!
As a member of Everyday Colab you will be able to enter through a doorway to a lab where you can try out various interventions that have already been evaluated in a scientific lab. That’s why we use them! They have been proven to work. The interventions you will have the opportunity to try have a history of helping people create the life they genuinely want. Soon it will be your turn to try them out and give us feedback as to the success of the intervention in your life.
Let’s look at the word intervention:
Intervention simply means the act or process of intervening in a particular situation for a specific purpose.
What’s a Positive Psychological intervention and how do I apply it to my life?
A positive psychological intervention or PPI simply means the act or process of intervening in a particular situation for a specific purpose of improving the quality of one’s life.
Let’s say if a PPI could potentially provide direction to remedy an annoying problem that has been causing you unwanted behaviour and/or causing you anxiety or simply keeping you from making a positive change in your life, you’d do it, wouldn’t you?
Before you say YES, let me tell you, there is a catch!
It’s a small one, but for many it may has well be HUGE as it often seems insurmountable causing them great angst. I’m talking about commitment! There, I’ve said it!
Any, and all PPIs must be done intentionally and regularly, even though at first you may not see much change taking place. Nevertheless, things are happening in your brain. New neural pathways are laid down and old unwanted neural pathways are dropping off.
PPIs have power within them!
However, here’s a warning: don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the intervention prescribed for you.
It may sound ridiculously simple, or even too good to be true that such a tiny act could hold the power within it to change the direction of your life for the better. But you figure you’ll give it a go; you’ll give anything a go if it can make you change!
But here’s that catch again,
A PPI will not work if applied half-heartedly. It needs a strong commitment. This is the part that people stumble over. Commitment is the thief that prevents people from experiencing the joy of success in change.
I visualise PPIs as a burst of sunlight on a dreary day, it can change your mood quickly. It’s like a little seed that, once nurtured, can grow into the tallest of tall trees.
The is no future without hope, that’s a certainty!
Once a person makes a strong commitment to truly follow the PPI prescription everyday hope begins to blossom.
When applying an intervention to your life, the best way, or rather, the only way, is to apply it consciously – on purpose – until it becomes automatic. How long for? Everyone is different, there is no set time.
Science has proven that when creating a growth mindset, you must be prepared to nurture the PPI every single day until the process takes root at the implicit level which is below the level of awareness. That when you will see the miracle!
